I hope i don't get laughed at for this AB build
First off, let me stress this build is for AB only, maybe PvE if the mobs bunch up but mostly AB because everyone mobs. Secondly, let me say I have no problems using other preps but I DO get BORED of the same old builds day in and day out. I have 12 Ranger builds (i routinely switch between battles) saved in templates, which I may post one day.
Expertise: 13
Wilderness Survival: 12
Marksmanship: 12
Protection Prayers: 2
I use a superior rune of marksmanship, a major rune of wilderness survival, a minor rune of expertise and of course a superior rune of vigor.
The Build:
Ignite Arrows
Dual Shot
Forked Arrow
Distracting Shot
Mending Touch
Smite Hex
Escape (Elite)
Troll Unguent
People have said there are better preps to bring and (depending on what you are aiming for) there are better preps. If you want damage vs a single target you bring Kindle Arrows, If you wanna make dang sure you hit the target you bring RtW. You bring Ignite Arrows for enemies in bunches (spirits, minions, or in AB, everyone in a mob)
(posting a better screenie of the damage later)
[EDIT] Inspired by Avicara Fierce and Charr Hunters

If you want to do mob damage, I think Barrage would do more? That 39 in the screenshot is the damage the bow did, well wouldn't it be better to have that on everyone nearby rather than -12?
I'm not condoning the use of Barrage as a PvP elite, I was just thinking are two -13s really so great.

I actually think this is one of the better builds posted in these forums. I've found that Escape works very well in AB since running skills can really come in handy for capping. No laughs from me.

As said in another topic, Quickshot works better with a hornbow as it ignores both the refire rate and the arc of the bow
And yeah the build is nice - I used to run a simillar build, with an elite attack instead of escape (and WD/Throw Dirt instead of Mending Touch/Smite Hex). The main flaw of my build was I couldn't handle an heavy degen from hexes (or hex like SS), however for conditions, Troll was enough.

Barrage his only 6 target adjascent to foe. It kinda hard to hit in AB. But in this case you can fast do 4x( 2x from dual and 2x from forked) 13 dmg (from ignite arrows) to area.. I going to try similar build (no NF atm. but with forked it will be great) to spam at capture spots when protecting or attack protected spot

I had *kind of* the same idea recently.. use QS+forked+dual with Serpent's Quickness as your stance, and Needling Shot in between, with a horn bow. I don't get to play my ranger much, but it seems kinda fun.
I would never bash a build with 2 skills like dual+forked and a prep. It may not be Judge's Insight, but I'm sure you could make a MM angry, and help cap the bases faster.

i would definatley use kindle arrows over ignite arrows in ab because kindle arrows does +20 fire damage at 12 wilderness, and im pretty sure ignite does less. AoE as a ranger isnt that important because the damage isnt really high enough to be worth it(for pvp, not pve). i would take out escape, smite hex and mending touch because as a ranger your usually at a distance from the battle and dont need to worry about conditions as much, unless they seem to be a problem for you. bring storm chaser, which lasts like 18 seconds at 12wilderness, whirling defense and an elite bow attack...i would use quick shot or burning arrow. also, i would never ever use barrage in any form of pvp, it just isnt practical....the general idea of your build though is great, i dont see why you would get laughed at.

Uh.. I'm sure Ignite helps for capping and dealing with minion mobs. Kindle won't, and finding more than 1 target for Ignite Arrows isn't too tough in my experience.
As for subbing out Escape for Storm Chaser, that's his call, really.. but the other two skill replacements I think I'd have to disagree with. If you're drawing any kind of fire, chances are there'll be a hex or condition on you.
Oh and AB isn't PvP.

I don't like wasting my elite on Escape. Fair enough its the best running/evasive stance in the game, but it doesn't really have any place. Its not like there aren't a lack of spell based snares (which i guess is what Smite Hex is for) which would render your elite practically worthless. Mending Touch is a nice skill in all honesty, but hex removal should definatly be covered by a party monk.
As for running, just bring Dodge... or even Whirling Defences. Some enemies just get bored of following you (lets face it you lost the rest of your team so you might aswell die and join em).

I'd suggest Savage Shot over distracting, the recharge and damage are both better.

That can never be said. Its personal choice. I'd rather take both if could in PvP. Savage can be the difference between killing and not killing an annoying ele. Distracting can be the difference between killing/disabling and not killing anything with spammable skills (Searing Flames anyone?). Hence why i take both, least the latter can be used against Skills without making you feel like you just wasted it to an extent.

I would ALWAYS bring both, unless i'm playing some sort of odd ranger bar, like a trapper. Then and only then would the crowded skillbar provide an excuse to only bring Distracting.
And then again, timing Distracting on something annoying (like Blinding Surge/Flash, Searing Flames, Vampiric Touch/Bite, etc) is extremely rewarding =)
